FRANKFURT, Germany – The 2026 series of meetings of ISO/TC96 (Cranes) was recently held in Frankfurt, bringing together over 100 delegates from 16 member countries, including Germany, France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Finland, Japan, and China.
Mr. Shan Zenghai, Vice President and Chief Engineer of XCMG Machinery, led a team of technical experts to participate in the meetings, achieving breakthrough results on several key issues.
Advancing International Standards for Mobile Cranes
During the sessions, Mr. Shan, as the convener of the Working Group on “Safe Use of Mobile Cranes,” reported on the progress of ISO 12480‑2 – Cranes – Safe use – Part 2: Mobile cranes, a standard initiated by China. The project was successfully advanced to the DIS (Draft International Standard) stage.
XCMG technical experts also proposed a new work item for ISO 9927‑2 – Cranes – Inspections – Part 2: Mobile cranes, which drew close attention from delegates from various countries. In addition, they successfully pushed for the revision of ISO 9927‑1 – Cranes – Inspections – Part 1: General and took on two new international standard revision tasks.
These efforts represent XCMG’s contribution to cutting‑edge crane technologies on behalf of the Chinese industry.
A Growing Footprint in Global Standards
At this year’s meetings, the Chinese delegation successfully advanced 14 ongoing ISO crane standards, proposed two new work items, and newly took on six international standards projects.
